As a working mother, Marilyn put two kids through our local schools. This experience ignited her passion to empower ALL students to achieve their goals. Under her steady guidance, our coastal schools are gaining state and national recognition for academic excellence. Across our schools, Marilyn has delivered the results that give our students a leg up to make their dreams reality.

During her many years on the San Luis Coastal Unified School District Board of Education, Marilyn Rodger has participated in a period of significant change and investment across the District, with a particular focus on the coastal communities of Morro Bay and Los Osos.

Delivering Resources

  • Worked with the Education Foundation to build innovation labs at all elementary schools

  • Built a new community pool benefiting residents of Morro Bay and Estero Bay

  • Secured 30% pay increases for our teachers over 4 successful contract cycles

  • Enhanced counseling across the district, including elementary and bilingual counselors, at all middle and high schools

  • $1 million in additional annual revenue after securing an agreement with neighboring Coast Unified School District to allow inner-district transfers

  • $490 million being invested through the successful passage of school facility bonds to renovate all schools across the district, including significant upgrades at Morro Bay High School, Los Osos Middle School and Del Mar, Baywood and Monarch Grove Elementary Schools
